This is a project by Justin Gignac. It is called New York City Garbage. He started this project in 2001. He collects garbage in the city New York, he classifies them and packages them. They look as if they are designed objects or second hand objects instead of garbage. Normally garbage is something people are disgusted from. People throw them away and they are useless. However this project has a different approach. Garbage is not put in plastic containers to throw away. It doesn’t look disgusting. It is packaged neatly and it seems as if it is nice decorative element that you can display.

Over 1.300 cubes are sold, starting from 50 dollars, in 25 countries. It can be discussed whether their price is too high or not but I just think it is a creative idea to use things that have no value to create something new that visually looks nice and has a value.
